The campus was established in May 23, 2009 and held its first classes May 23, 2009 as a stand-alone university. Approximately 5,511 students are enrolled, and offers undergraduate and graduate-level classes. Graduate alternative teacher certification program is also being offered.

Texas A&M – SA has 161 full and part-time faculty, forty of which, were recently recognized, based on student evaluations, with Teaching Excellence Awards. The faculty has published 116 articles in professional journals and books, were involved in 46 significant professional service activities, and were presented at 89 professional conferences.

University of Texas (UTSA)

The University of Texas in SA-Town has three campuses: the main campus, Downtown UTSA, and the Hemisfair campus (Institute of Texan Cultures). It’s an emerging Tier-One research institution with a student population of nearly  29,000. It is, by far, the largest university in the San Antonio metropolitan region.

UTSA houses solid and continuously growing research programs in health, energy, sustainability, cybersecurity, and human and social development. Recently, more than 36 researchers have been added to the faculty list, people who are experts in their field that came from top institutions such as Stanford, Cornell, Dartmouth and NYU.
